Douglas M. Owens III is a partner with The Farrell Law Firm, P.C., with over 15 years of experience in representing clients in all phases of intellectual property.
Mr. Owens concentrates his intellectual property (IP) practice on patent preparation and prosecution involving a range of technologies, including wireless telecommunication systems, electronics, global navigation satellite systems, computer architecture, computer software, human-computer interfaces, digital signal processing, integrated circuit memory design, mobile/Internet technologies, consumer products, Internet of Things, sensor devices, and electrical power transmission systems.
Prior to joining The Farrell Law Firm, P.C., Mr. Owens was a Senior IP Counsel for Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd. There he was responsible for overseeing various aspects of intellectual property for the Telecommunication Division.
As in-house counsel for Samsung, Mr. Owens also conducted legal and technical meetings to resolve patent enforcement issues, negotiated, reviewed and drafted a variety of agreements, and assisted with licensing-in and -out activities.
Mr. Owens also represented Samsung for the European Telecommunications Standards Institute (ETSI), a European standardization organization having members from major telecommunications and electronics companies.
Mr. Owens received his Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering from Alfred University and was awarded his Juris Doctor degree from Wake Forest University School of Law.
Mr. Owens is admitted to practice before the Courts of the State of New York, and he is also a registered patent attorney before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office.
