Douglas M. Owens III is a partner with THE FARRELL LAW FIRM, P.C.
Mr. Owens received his Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering from Alfred University and was awarded his Juris Doctor degree from Wake Forest University School of Law. He is admitted to practice before the Courts of the State of New York. He is also a registered patent attorney before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office.
Prior to joining The Farrell Law Firm, P.C., Mr. Owens was a Senior IP Counsel for Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd. There he was responsible for overseeing various aspects of intellectual property for the Telecommunication Division.
As in-house counsel for Samsung, Mr. Owens also conducted legal and technical meetings to resolve patent enforcement issues, negotiated, reviewed and drafted a variety of agreements, and assisted with licensing-in and -out activities.
Mr. Owens also represented Samsung for the European Telecommunications Standards Institute (ETSI), a European standardization organization having members from major telecommunications and electronics companies.
He currently counsels clients on all phases of patent, trademark and copyright prosecution, litigation and related matters, such as invalidity and non-infringement opinions and design-around studies. The fields of technology in which Mr. Owens has prosecuted and obtained patents include wireless telecommunication systems including CDMA, TDMA, FDMA, OFDM, OFDMA, and 3G and 4G systems; electronic games and toys; appliance technology including electronic control systems; and electrical power transmission systems.

Mr. Owens' memberships include the New York Intellectual Property Association.
